’Close to the body’, the research study conducted between ESDi Higher School of Design, IAAC (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia) and the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) will be exhibited in the Market Lab of the Sónar, the 20th International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art of Barcelona which takes place from 13 to 16 June.’Close to the body’, is a project that explores emerging space offers smart textile technology to investigate the dynamic relationships between the body, textiles and environment.
This workshop, part of the IACC Advanced Interaction Master, integrated students of this Master and students and alumni of the ESDi Official Undergraduate Degree in Fashion Design, in order to cover the areas of fashion knowledge and interaction. And the goal was to create a wearable, a piece that integrates technology and makes it portable. So this practice arose interactive pieces that will be in the Sonar: "Trailblazer" (intended for jogging fans can discover special places in different cities while running), "Sound Embracers" (an instrument that generates sounds body movement) and "Open Up" (a special dress that connects the wearer to its surroundings).
