As applied to the design business? Exists and / or design research should exist? It is a sport in the design value of the product? It serves aesthetics? Service functionality? Sufficiently valued in our country? How has the design on the sports field?

The importance of design research and its integration in most (or all) steps in the chain of creative production company, are some of the concepts that were put on the table at the networking meeting held yesterday at the School of Design ESDI, in response to the thickness of questions and considerations set around the tandem design and sport. The speakers (moderated by sports journalist Louis Canute), industry representatives and MUNICH, Söllworld, Helly Hansen, Panenka, designer Nerea Palacios and elite athlete Ona Carbonell, agreed that increasingly thinks the design- sport as a unique concept and symbiotic. Can not be understood without sports design. Neither sporty design without continuous research. How to measure return? "Social networks give us a lot of information out there, that the demand and where we can distribute our product," said Matthias Segoura commissioned Style and Design in Munich. And "shopping experience" or the old system of "trial and error" make the rest. As expressed Cristina Ustrell, Söll any media and fashion designer sportswear Nerea Palacios, respectively.

The athletes increasingly are aware of the importance of applying design in their sports facilities. This is the case of the student and captain of the ESDI synchronized swimming team Ona Carbonell who wanted to become involved in the redesign of swimsuits for world swimming, researching fabrics and materials to make equipment more attractive visually and ergonomically. Still, he said, still a long way to other elements within the field of synchronized, eg "with a redesigned nose tweezers."
Today, however, the sporty design is transferred as a barrier imaginary. Large companies do not design thinking only athletes, but sports fashion has moved in the street everyday. "Why wear a shoe uncomfortable if I wear a sports shoe?" Said the designer Nerea Palacios. "The technical materials like sports and eventually apply to everyday," said Cristina added Ustrell, Söll. In this sense plays an important "advertising" as pointed Isidro Canaleta, Area Manager of Catalonia company Helly Hansen. Although, when sold, in cases like the magazine Panenka "design is sold by itself, should not sell" argued Marta Vilches, Art Director of the publication.

The future of design in the context of sport focused on the last section of the table and question time. "The design towards Wearables. That is, integrate fashion and technology to make the most smart, "said the designer Nerea Palacios. And Matthias Segoura Munich added that the trend directed also in this way using techniques like "Printing or handcraft," and applying "minimalism productive." That is, the importance of technological intervention more agile processes. The trend seems to be moving customization, ask the user what they want and when they want, and especially the importance of creating university-business partnerships technology centers.
Reflections arising in the round table discussion be continued during lunch snacks networking was done then and that allowed participants to exchange different views and contacts. The ESDiNetworking about design + sport follows the previous editions (a total of five) held the previous year, and aims to facilitate the exchange of information and contacts and thus build relationships with people who share interests common professional. The event is part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the School of Design ESDI and is the first of three that will be this year and will inform you soon.
