Design, driving force of the innovation and the social progress.

ESDI organized the
1st International Congress of Design and Innovation of Catalonia on the occasion of the celebration of its twenty years of existence that helded the
18th and 19th March of 2010 at Fira de Sabadell.
Under the theme
"Design: driving force of the innovation and social progress" it pretends to promote the reflections, the discussion and the interchange of experiences about the needing to increase the integration of design in the business framework to, in this way, be able to innovate and improve the competitiveness of international markets.
Nowadays, the client demands a higher number of benefits of the products and services he consumes "durability, security, environmental sustainability, and the accessibility for disabled people among other factors-, for this cause, the weapon for an Enterprise to be more competitive in a market even more exigent is
innovation.
Business innovation should be based on the application of scientific, technological and social advances through the design, as the design itself not only deals with the aesthetic aspects, it can help the Enterprise to acquire strategic objectives in the development of new or better products and services, contributing new advantages in productivity and differentiation areas.
For this reason the design is the basic resource for the development of the innovation as it allows reaching the balance necessary among the benefits of the enterprise and the social ones, ultimately achieving the company's place in the market, in the minds and hearts of consumers.
Consequently, the 1st International Congress of Design and Innovation of Catalonia became the suitable context in which to promote the meditation and the discussion on the present trends and future design and business innovation and its influence in the reactivation of the economy.
